Pierre Hotel is another great game from the stable of Carmel Games. The folks there have been kind enough to give me permission to use their content in my walkthrough.

The approach with most games made by “Carmel Games” is to visit a few locations, collecting & using various items that lead to the final outcome. Each item collected is generally used either in another location or at a later time. This game represents a bit of a departure from Carmel Games’ normal play mode because there is no map, everything takes place in one primary location, albeit one which has multiple scenes within it, viz:

  • bar
  • car
  • chimney
  • fireplace and lift foyer
  • games room
  • hidden room
  • janitor’s closet
  • kitchen
  • reception
  • room #1 (your room)
  • swimming pool

The video walkthrough (above) shows the quickest way to complete this adventure. The richest playing experience comes from stumbling through, getting stuck and talking more to the characters. That’s not the fastest way, but is definitely the most fun 🙂 It’s also the only way to build a picture of what is needed and where.

At the end of the video I list the items needed throughout the game, where to use them and where to get them.

Vortex Point – Case 1 (Far Journeys) is another great game from the stable of Carmel Games. The folks there have been kind enough to give me permission to use their content in my walkthrough.

The approach with most games made by “Carmel Games” is to visit a few locations, collecting & using various items that lead to the final outcome. Each item collected is generally used either in another location or at a later time.

In this game there are eight (8) primary locations as seen on the map (below). Some of these have multiple scenes within them, e.g. C. Razy Mental Hospital has gate, nurses’ station, and Ward C.

The video walkthrough (above) shows the quickest way to complete this adventure. The richest playing experience comes from stumbling through and talking to more characters. That’s not the fastest way, but is definitely the most fun 🙂 It’s also the only way to build a picture of what is needed and where.

This game represents a bit of a departure from Carmel Games’ normal play mode because this one pretty much leads you along the pathways with solid hints and instructions via SMS and conversations. If there are multiple scenes at a location there’s little option to choose where to go, it’s more like stepping stones rather than a forked path. There’s little guessing about what to do next. Having said that, it’s still a good game with a few little challenges.

A Night In Crazyville is another great game from the stable of Carmel Games.  The folks there have been kind enough to give me permission to use their content in my walkthrough.

The approach with most games made by “Carmel Games” is to visit a few locations, collecting & using various items that lead to the final outcome.  Each item collected is generally used either in another location or at a later time.

In this game there are five primary locations as seen on the map (below).  Some of these have multiple scenes within them, e.g. Pine St has sidewalk, gallery and laundromat.

The video walkthrough (above) shows the quickest way to complete this adventure. The richest playing experience comes from stumbling through and talking to more characters. That’s not the fastest way, but is definitely the most fun 🙂  It’s also the only way to build a picture of what is needed and where.

For example, consider the plunger, in the walkthrough we simply grab it along the way as part of some inexplicable sequence and then it’s magically available when it’s needed.  However, there are 3 questions that this raises:

  • how do we know when to grab it?
  • how do we work out what has to be done beforehand? and
  • how did we know that we needed it at all?

Part of the explorative sequence might go like this:

  • you’re in the back of the Booze Shack and notice something stuck in the toilet;
  • go to Maple St. and click on the plunger that you remember seeing there earlier or you’ve stumbled upon it (you can’t get it – talk to the woman); click on the carrot balls – just because they’re there – get the connection with a basketball;
  • go to the Gallery in Pine St., see the basketball (this is just something you’d find by visiting locations), click on it and realise that you have to get rid of the Gallery owner – notice the candle: in the opening scene there was something at the cafe that will burn, hmm;
  • go to the EcoLove Cafe, try to grab the hair-spray and realise we’ll have to distract the girl – notice she is constantly drinking;
  • if you haven’t already been there (then more wandering is required) go to the No Smell Hotel and get the hint to go to the 6th floor, get the detergent (and iron, but that doesn’t matter here);
  • go back to the EcoLove Cafe, try putting the detergent in the girl’s drink (it works), get the hair-spray;
  • go back to the Gallery in Pine St., try using the hair-spray with the candle (it works), get the basketball;
  • go back to Maple St., try putting the basketball in amongst the carrot balls (it works), the woman is distracted so grab the plunger.
